A dear friend of mine gave me this sake cup and I've been trying to develop a concept around the piece. Then I found the black sake bottle in an antique shop with its was seal in tact. I thought the red wax pieces looked so unique and worked with the theme of the background. I really enjoyed painting this!
The subject matter seemed fitting to donate the proceeds from the sale of this painting to the Daily Paintworks Help Japan Challenge.
