Sunflowers and Amber Glass

10" x 8" Oil on Linen Panel

Autumn is my favorite time of year. The colors inspire me to paint the brilliance of the season. The amber bottle reflects all my favorite colors. It was a bit tricky simplifying all the varied shapes and patterns in the glass. This painting is available on Etsy for purchase.

Red Geraniums

11" x 14" Oil on Linen Panel

Every summer I paint geraniums. These were the perfect pom pom, so explosive in their red color. Red happens to be my favorite color but its also my nemesis. It can be a little tricky trying to show form without making the light parts of the flower too pink. The more I paint with red the more I will master this beautiful color. This painting is available on Ebay.

Adult Swim - NFS

8" x 10" Oil on Linen Panel

My twin nieces, Nora and Lucy and their brother Frankie were patiently sitting my the water's edge at their pool this past summer waiting for the adult swim to be over. What intrigued me about the shot was the color. Everything went together from the bathing suits to the pool color to the flags strung overhead. I can just hear Frankie telling his little sister Lucy to be patient until they are allowed back in the pool. I just had to paint it.

Globe Grapes and Drip Pottery

5" x 7" Oil on Linen Panel

I have a small collection of drip pottery that I have accumulated over the years. This pot is a small space ship looking vessel with wonderful cool and warm colors. It holds a small flower frog that I frequently use to put arrangements like pansies or nasturtium that don't have strong stems. Since the grapes and the pot had pretty much the same colors I thought the arrangement would make a harmonious composition. Available on Ebay.

Red Tamarillo

5" x 7" Oil on Linen

These days when I go to the grocery store my produce shopping involves finding new props for still life paintings. I've never come across red tamarillos before but I thought their red color and shape would make a unique addition to one of my paintings. I did a bit of research on the fruit and they are cousins to eggplant and grown in California and New Zealand. If you would like to purchase this painting it is available on Ebay.

Relaxing Beach Day

10" x 8" Oil on Linen - NFS

Last summer my sister Sally and I were enjoying a perfect beach day in Cape May, NJ on Labor Day weekend. I took this a photo of her while she was enjoyed listening to some tunes on her iPod. At the end of the day, the sky can be so beautiful but I have to say I embellished the sky and sand so the colors harmonized. I'm already working on my next beach painting. Come on summer!

2011 Philadelphia Flower Show - Inspiration Photo

This year I went to the Philadelphia International Flower Show with the hope of finding inspiration for paintings. The displays were breathtaking with rainbows of color that exceeded my expectations. These tulips and fritillaria captured my eye so I snapped a photo. What a fun, colorful combination to help me get in the mood for warmer weather. Available on Ebay.

Gay Paris Peonies SOLD

9" x 12" Oil on Linen
Available on Ebay

This painting began as a study at Elizabeth Robbin's workshop last summer. These peonies are stunning and since they are deer resistant I plan on planting a few in my garden.
